A round table was organized at the SBS Consulting office on the topic “The Present and Future of ESG in Russia or Is the Agenda Sustainable in Unstable Times”. As part of the round table, the background and intermediate results of the formation of ESG in Russia, changes that have a serious impact on the future development of this agenda in the country, as well as a number of other issues were discussed.

Russian large companies from various industries declare the preservation of the ESG agenda with a shift in focus towards social projects.

Almost all participants of the meeting agreed that the ESG agenda in Russia is caused by Western trends, but it also has internal incentives for development.

Many companies were engaged in environmental and social issues even before the formation of the ESG agenda, which allowed them to quickly integrate into the new reality and formalize their initiatives.

The state will not curtail current programs, but will inevitably run into the problem of a lack of technology when implementing large-scale initiatives.

New joint projects of the state and companies are expected, especially in the S-segment.

Hydrogen, nuclear energy, as well as the development of electric transport production through internal resource provision (palladium, nickel, lithium, etc.) can become a driver for the development of ESG in Russia, and especially the low-carbon economy.
