Majorest mining and metallurgical holding company in the CIS countries
Development of a program for the modernization of industrial assets
Client situation
- As part of the tightening of national environmental legislation in the CIS countries, the use of current technologies and equipment at the holding’s production facilities did not allow it to comply with the new environmental standards, which led to the risk of increased environmental payments for negative impact on the environment and called into question the economic feasibility of continuing production operation
Approach
- Environmental audit of the holding’s facilities throughout the entire production chain: from drilling and blasting operations at mines to the shipment of cathode copper
- Identification of technical and technological problems leading to increased negative environmental impact, with an assessment of future environmental payments
- Development of technical solutions in line with domestic and international BAT reference documents, assessment of technical feasibility in collaboration with relevant specialists at the facilities and experts
- Preparation of a modernization program including selected technical solutions, with calculation of capital and operating costs
1
Modernization
An environmental modernization program was designed for 20 facilities, including about 270 measures in the following areas: compliance with current legislation, transition to BAT principles
2
Financing structure
The possible financing structure for the investment program was determined, taking into account the potential use of green instruments
3
Roadmap
A unified roadmap for the implementation of measures at all production facilities was developed
